Why it works
The most popular way to revise for an exam is one of the weakest
Most of us revise by rereading our notes. Decades of memory research show that more sticks when you test yourself and come back to the material at intervals. That is why a Verbalu course is made of questions, not just text.

The planner saves nothing. In Verbalu you upload your materials and AI builds a course from them: summaries, quizzes and flashcards.
What the planner assumes
- One module is about 15 pages of material, roughly what you can cover in one sitting.
- The first pass takes 2 min per page (reading to understand, not skimming) plus a 10-minute quiz at the end of each module.
- Coming back to a module means a 10-minute round of quiz or flashcards. Returns come after 1, 3, 7, 14, 30 days, each counted from the previous one.
- Reviews due that day come first, and new material only gets the time that is left. So a lack of time shows up as material that never gets covered, not as a pretty chart.
- The last 7 days are for mock exams (up to 3), with no new material.
- A plan "fits" when all the material is covered and every module comes back at least 2 times before mock exam week.
- This is a rough plan, not a prediction of your result. Hard material needs more time per page, familiar material less.

Questions
Before you upload your first file
Won't the AI make up things that aren't in my materials?
AI writes the course from the files you upload, and shows you the plan to change before anything is saved. You can edit or delete any question, flashcard or summary. Check rules, figures and dates against the original, as you would with any notes.
How much material does the AI read at once?
From each file, the AI takes the opening part, about 12,000 characters, which is a few pages of dense text or several dozen slides. The course plan is built from about 24,000 characters in total. So it's best to upload one section at a time: a chapter of your handbook, the slides from one teaching block or one course module. Split a large handbook into parts and build a course for each section.
What files can I upload?
PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), Markdown and plain text, plus files from Google Drive, Notion and Nuclino. A single file can be up to 50 MB, and a free account has 20 MB of space for all files. Scans and photos of pages without a text layer won't work, because the AI reads text, not images.
Will I get questions from the real exam?
No. Verbalu has no official questions and is not affiliated with any examining body. Questions come from your materials, so they test what you were taught on your course. If you use a question bank, Verbalu complements it well.
How is this different from NotebookLM or Quizlet?
Those tools are good at making flashcards and quizzes from individual sources. Verbalu builds your materials into a course with steps in order, adds an exam mode with grade bands and a certificate, and lets you give the course to a whole group and see their results. What Verbalu doesn't have yet is an automatic review schedule: plan when to come back to the material with the planner on this page, or with a weekly reminder email.
How much does it cost?
The account is free and you get 50 AI credits to start. The course plan and each step written by AI cost 1 credit each, so a course with 8-12 steps is about 10-13 credits. After that you can buy 100 credits for $9 with no subscription, or choose Pro + AI at $50 a month with 200 prompts. The examiner roleplay uses a credit for each reply from the AI character.
Can I study on my phone?
Yes, the course works in your phone's browser, with no app to install. You need an internet connection. On another device, you return to the course with your personal code.
Who will see my materials and my course?
Your materials go into your organisation in Verbalu. The course opens through a link with a code, so only people you share it with will see it, and you can turn off link access in the course settings. To write the course, the text of your materials is sent to an AI model, as described in the privacy policy. Upload materials you're allowed to use for your own study.
Can I give this course to my group?
Yes. Each participant joins by link or QR code and gets a personal code to come back. As the course leader you see everyone's progress and results, and you can set up weekly reminder emails.
