A 3D island that grows as you learn

Garden

Regular study leaves no trace: yesterday's quiz is gone with the browser tab. In the Garden every finished activity stays visible. Rain falls, plants grow, and the learner lays out an island of their own in 3D and comes back to see what has grown.

What is Garden?

The Garden is each participant's own 3D island. They switch it on themselves with one click, with no code and no account. After that they need not think about it: the garden grows in the background while they do what you would have asked of them anyway.

A finished quiz, crossword, fill in the blank, memory game, AI roleplay, written assignment or focus block in a Study Room is rain: the learner gets drops and every plant that is still growing grows a little. Other participant screens, flashcards and live games for example, pay a drop for each minute of work. Drops buy more plants and ornaments, and the learner shapes the ground as they like.

The Garden rewards finishing, not scores, and it is not a ranking: nobody but its owner can see it. Consistency has a price of its own, though. Leaving a Study Room before the block ends makes one plant wilt, and after a few days without studying the island starts to dry out. One finished activity puts everything right, and nothing is ever lost for good.

From a finished quiz to a tree in bloom

A learner finishes a quiz, drops rain on their garden, the plants grow a stage, and the level bar and the streak of days move up.

Features

Key capabilities

  • It grows with every activity

A finished quiz, crossword, fill in the blank, memory game, AI roleplay or written assignment brings drops and waters every growing plant. Other participant screens pay a drop per minute of work, so a live game counts too.

  • Dozens of plants in four stages

Flowers, shrubs, trees, water plants and exotic ones. Each grows from a seedling to full bloom, and an oak takes far more studying than a daisy.

  • Ornaments and inhabitants

A bench, a lamp post, a well, a beehive, a fountain, a tea house and a windmill, plus a duck on the pond and a rabbit in the grass. The lamps come on after dark.

  • The ground is yours to shape

Paths, a pond, sand, soil beds and hills. A spring set on high ground runs downhill and falls off the edge of the island as a waterfall.

  • Weather and times of day

Sun, clouds, rain, a storm with lightning, snow that settles on the plants, fog and wind. A rainbow after the rain, fireflies at night. The weather changes by itself or the learner picks it.

  • Leaving early has a cost

A learner who leaves a Study Room before the focus block ends finds one plant wilted. Their next finished activity revives it, and a page reload does not count.

  • A streak of days and ten levels

The first activity of the day brings extra drops and keeps the streak. Each level opens new plants, and the island grows three times along the way.

  • An avatar on the island

The learner's avatar walks the garden: tap a free tile and it goes there. Its look changes with one button.

  • On a phone and on a computer

The garden opens in the browser with nothing to install. You turn it with a finger or the mouse, zoom in and arrange it with taps.

  • Private, with no ranking

Neither the trainer nor the group can see a garden, and nobody can be graded by it. It is saved to the learner's account, or to their device if they have none.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Tell the group about the garden

Share the address verbalu.com/garden. You open no session and hand out no code.

  2. The learner starts a garden

One click and they have a small island with its first plants and some drops to begin with.

  3. They study as usual

The quizzes, courses, exercises and focus blocks you assign feed the garden by themselves. A short note on the screen tells them about each reward.

  4. They arrange the island and come back

Drops buy plants and ornaments and shape the ground. They come back because they want to see what has grown.

Use cases

What it’s good for

  • A self-paced course that participants should return to every few days, not finish in one last evening
  • Exam preparation spread over weeks: the streak of days shows the rhythm of study
  • Independent work between sessions or training days
  • Studying together in a 3D room, where a finished focus block waters the garden straight away
  • Onboarding new employees, with short quizzes and reading spread over the first weeks
  • Studying alone with no trainer: the garden is your own measure of consistency
