Management simulation

Team management simulator

A solo management game - lead a software team sprint by sprint, watch budget, morale and quality, and ship the product on time.

What is the Team management simulator simulation?

The team management simulator is a single-player game in which you play the manager of a software team. You have a set number of sprints to finish the project (100% progress). Each sprint you choose what the team focuses on, and every so often you have to react to unexpected events.

Five metrics are woven into the game: budget (you pay salaries each sprint - going below zero is bankruptcy), morale (dropping to zero means the team falls apart), quality (low quality slows delivery and hurts reputation), reputation (affects the final grade) and energy (a tired team works slower). You can hire people, run team events and training. At the end you get a grade and a score.

Features

Key capabilities

  • Sprint-by-sprint play

Each sprint you pick the team's focus and react to the situation, aiming for 100% progress before the deadline.

  • Budget management

You pay salaries each sprint - going below zero means bankruptcy and game over.

  • Morale, quality, reputation

You watch the team's metrics: neglecting any one of them costs you in the result.

  • Random events

Unexpected situations force decisions and show the consequences of trade-offs.

  • Final grade

After the last sprint you get a grade and score - an incentive to play better.

  • Building the team

Hire developers, designers, testers and leads from the candidate pool - or let people go when the budget stops adding up.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Start the game

Learn the rules and metrics, then take over a team with a set deadline.

  2. Plan the sprint

Choose what the team focuses on and optionally spend budget on hiring, a team event or training.

  3. React to events

You run the sprint, settle the result and react to any random events that appear.

  4. Ship the product

Repeat until you reach 100% progress before the deadline - at the end you get your grade and score.
