A group of students

Cohorts

Look after a group before a training, during it and for years after. You share the materials; the report says who actually uses them.

What is Cohorts?

A training ends on Friday, and the knowledge is supposed to last for years. A cohort is the one place where a group gets a needs survey three weeks before, the session materials during, and a quiz two weeks later - with the knowledge base staying for good.

Every material has its own window: it appears and disappears when you decide. A student enters once, with one code, and is never asked for a password or a QR again - courses, events, wikis, surveys and quizzes all open from their portal.

After a few years you have a base of everyone you have ever taught: who, in which groups, doing what, and whether you may write to them.

Features

Key capabilities

  • One door, four ways in

A link, a link with a password, a code by e-mail, or an organization account. The e-mail code gives a student an identity that survives a new device and the years.

  • It appears and it disappears

Every material has a time window, or stays for good. The portal shows "new since your last visit" and "disappearing soon" on its own.

  • Everything you keep in Verbalu

A study program, a course, an event, a wiki, a single article, a survey, a quiz and a plain announcement - on one shelf.

  • Notifications, not spam

One daily digest of what is new, a warning before something disappears, a nudge after a month of silence. All by consent, all with a way out.

  • A newsletter to alumni

Write to one group, or to everyone you taught in the last year. A year after the training too.

  • A report that does not flatter

Who opened it, who finished it, how often they came back. The data comes from the tools themselves, not from a tap on a tile.

  • A student base

One person is one row, even if they were in five groups. With tags, notes and a CSV export.

  • Your look

Ten themes, a header picture and a logo. The student sees your brand, not ours.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Create the cohort

Name the group and set the training dates. From those the portal works out whether the group is before, during or after.

  2. Fill the shelf

Add the materials and give each one a phase and a window. With no window, a material stays for good.

  3. Hand out the code

One QR code for the whole group, or personal links mailed to the addresses on your list.

  4. Write, and watch

Plan the messages once, then read the report - and come back to this group next year.

Use cases

What it’s good for

  • Postgraduate studies: a year group gets its materials session by session, and keeps the knowledge base after graduation
  • Corporate training: a needs survey before, the materials during, a reinforcement quiz two weeks after
  • Onboarding: every new group of employees gets its own cohort on the same set of materials
  • Development programme: a series of workshops over six months, with work between the meetings
  • An alumni community: a newsletter and new materials years after the last training
  • Certification: preparation materials in a window, the exam open only on the day
