Icebreaker game

Two Truths and a Lie

Everyone writes three statements about themselves - two true, one made up. Then the room gets moving, phones in hand: pairs scan each other’s QR codes, talk and guess who is bluffing.

What is the Two Truths and a Lie game?

Two Truths and a Lie is the world’s best-known icebreaker - here with the phone as the referee. Participants join by QR code without creating accounts, write their three statements and secretly mark the lie. The trainer watches in real time how many players are ready, sets the clock and releases the group into the room with one click.

The guessing happens face to face: one person shows their QR code, the other scans it, reads the statements and, after a short chat, marks their pick. The verdict comes back instantly - hit or miss - but the game never reveals which statement was the lie, so when the same pair meets again the answer can be changed. Whoever guesses the most statements wins.

Features

Key capabilities

  • Three statements, one lie

Participants write their statements on their phones and secretly mark the bluff. They can polish them until the guessing starts; then they freeze.

  • Pairs via QR code

One shows a code, the other scans it - you can only guess with somebody you actually walked up to. The conversation is part of the game.

  • Only the server knows the lie

Answers are graded server-side and the game only says hit or miss. The lie cannot be read out of the browser, and a pair that meets again can change their pick.

  • Points and a live ranking

The trainer sees who has asked how many people and how many statements they got right. The clock sets the pace, but the trainer decides when it ends.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Create a session

Name the game and project the QR code. Participants join from their phones, no accounts needed.

  2. Collect the statements

Everyone writes three statements about themselves and marks the lie. The console shows how many players are ready.

  3. Release the room

Set the time and start the guessing. Pairs scan each other’s codes, talk and pick the lies.

  4. Close and debrief

The ranking crowns the winner. Ask for the best stories - it is the highlight of the workshop.
