Communication and teamwork game

Bomb

A bomb-defusal simulation - you read the secret manual while the team defuses an identical device, racing the clock.

What is the Bomb game?

Bomb is a classic defusal game where everything depends on precise communication. The participants (the 'sappers') see the bomb but don't know how to defuse it. You (the 'game master') hold a secret manual you read aloud - only you see the solutions, but you never touch the bomb.

Each player gets an identical bomb with 6 modules (lock, wires, clock, lights, oscilloscope), and all of them must be defused. Once it starts everyone shares a 5-minute timer. A single mistake - say the wrong wire - means an explosion. When all modules are solved, a participant presses DEFUSE. On the console you watch each sapper's progress live and who defused versus who blew up the bomb.

Features

Key capabilities

  • 6 modules to defuse

Lock, wires, clock, lights and oscilloscope - each module has its own rules you must read out.

  • Secret game-master manual

Only you see the solutions and read them aloud - you never touch the bomb the team holds.

  • Precise communication

The game forces clear questions and answers: a misunderstanding ends in an explosion.

  • Shared 5-minute timer

The whole group races a single clock - time pressure drives the teamwork.

  • Live console

You see each sapper's progress and who defused versus who blew up the bomb.

  • Two difficulty levels

Choose how much feedback the team gets: the easier setting hints when they slip, the harder one leaves the players with nothing but the manual.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Create a session

Start the game - a game-master console opens with a code, QR code and the secret manual.

  2. Sappers join

Each participant scans the QR code and gets an identical bomb on their phone.

  3. Read the manual aloud

Once it starts the shared timer runs - you describe the module rules and the team sets the bomb.

  4. Defuse before it blows

When all modules are solved a player presses DEFUSE; a single mistake means an explosion.

Use cases

What it’s good for

  • Training communication and giving precise instructions
  • Practising teamwork under time pressure
  • A team icebreaker for workshops
  • Showing how misunderstandings lead to mistakes
  • Show how a vague instruction wrecks the result
  • An exercise in communicating under time pressure
  • A team challenge with genuine tension in the room
