Data and calculations
Spreadsheet
A spreadsheet inside Verbalu: formulas, charts and Excel files the group fills in with you live. Data from simulations such as the Ice Cream Shop goes straight into each participant's own sheet.
What is Spreadsheet?
The spreadsheet is a workbook with several tabs: a grid with column letters and row numbers, formulas starting with "=", about 100 functions (SUM, AVERAGE, IF, COUNTIF, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP and more), number formats, and column, line, area and pie charts. Polish and Spanish Excel function names work too.
It pays off most during the training: simulations such as the Ice Cream Shop send their data straight into the spreadsheet. With one button a participant opens a workbook of their own with the full sales log and works out profit by flavour, sold-out days and lost revenue without switching to Excel. Pressing it again pulls in the newest days, and their formulas and charts recalculate on the fresh data.
Every workbook has a code, a link and a QR code. Participants see it read-only or, in workshop mode, fill it in with you live: each cell saves on its own, so two people typing in different cells never overwrite each other. Open CSV, Excel (.xlsx, .xls) and OpenDocument (.ods) files, and save the result as .xlsx with formulas or a tab as CSV.

Features
Key capabilities
Data straight from simulations
Simulations such as the Ice Cream Shop send the sales log into a participant's own workbook, with no account and no export. Sending it again refreshes only the data tab: the participant's formulas and charts stay and recalculate on the new numbers.
Formulas like in Excel
Arithmetic (+ - * / ^ %), comparisons, joining text with &, A1 and $A$1 references, A1:B10 ranges and references to other tabs. About 100 functions: maths, statistics, logic, text, lookup and dates.
Polish and Spanish names too
=SUMA(A1:A5) and =SI(...) work just like =SUM and =IF, and arguments may be separated with commas or semicolons. The Σ button lists every function with a one-line description, and errors such as #DIV/0! or #N/A explain themselves on hover.
Charts from a selection
Column, line, area or pie. A chart floats over the sheet, you move and resize it, it updates whenever the numbers change, has a title, tooltips and a data table, and downloads as PNG.
Workshop mode
Participants type their name and edit the workbook with you live. Each cell saves on its own, so two people in different cells never overwrite each other's work.
Code, link, QR and agenda
Participants join without an account, by code, link or QR code. Without workshop mode they see the workbook read-only. Put it on an event agenda too; on a phone the grid and the toolbar scroll with a finger.
Excel, CSV and ODS
Open .xlsx, .xls, .ods or CSV (comma, semicolon or tab; UTF-8 or Polish Windows-1250): every sheet becomes a tab and formulas are kept. Save the workbook as .xlsx with formulas, or the current tab as CSV.
Number formats
Bold, italic, alignment, numbers with decimals, percent, currency, date and text. Typing "15%" or a date is understood straight away.
Step by step
How it works
Create a workbook or open a file
Start from an empty workbook or load an Excel, CSV or ODS file: every sheet in the file becomes a tab.
Type data and formulas
Enter the numbers, add formulas such as =SUM(B2:B9) and set a format: percent, currency or date.
Make a chart
Select a range of numbers and pick a column, line, area or pie chart.
Share it with the group
Show the QR code, switch on workshop mode, or let Ice Cream Shop participants open their own workbooks with the game's data.
Use cases
What it’s good for
- Analysing Ice Cream Shop simulation data: profit by flavour, sold-out days and a sales chart.
- Budgeting and cost exercises on one shared workbook.
- An Excel basics course: formulas, references and charts with nothing to install.
- Collecting numbers from the whole group in one workbook in workshop mode.
- KPI and sales tables discussed live on the screen.
- A reporting exercise: a chart from the data the room has just given.
- I want participants to analyse simulation data in a spreadsheet without exporting to Excel
- I need a shared spreadsheet where the whole group types numbers and sees a chart at once
