Team building and team health

9 Dimensions

Nine areas on a 3×3 grid and four dot colours. In two minutes everyone marks on their phone how things are going, then tells the group about one strong and one weaker area - as much as they want to share.

What is 9 Dimensions?

You pick a set of areas: personal life (adventure, work, health, family and friends and more) or how the team works (communication, trust, role clarity, deadlines and more). Every name can be changed. The grid is saved in your library, and you run sessions from it by sharing a code or a QR code.

Participants stick dots on their phones: green - going great, yellow - needs a little work, red - needs a lot of work, blue - not a priority right now. Then each person picks two areas to talk about, and you run the round, passing the floor one by one. The screen shows only the group map, never one person's grid.

Dots on the phones, the group map on the screen

A participant sticks a coloured dot on each of the nine areas. The facilitator's screen builds the group map: how many dots of each colour every area got.

Features

Key capabilities

  • A 3×3 grid your way

Two ready-made sets to start from: areas of life and areas of teamwork. Rename any of the nine areas and add a short hint to each.

  • Four dot colours

Participants pick a colour and tap the areas like a sheet of stickers. A blue dot is an honest way to say "not now".

  • Two minutes for a first reaction

A countdown on the phone nudges people to go with their first impression instead of weighing every dot.

  • Private by design

The trainer and the projector see only how many dots of each colour an area got. A name appears only next to the areas its owner chose to talk about.

  • A sharing round

Pass the floor one person at a time, with a timer for each. The speaker's phone shows it is their turn and reminds them of their two areas.

  • Group map and debrief points

See at once where the room agrees, where it is most split and where it sees the most work. The map goes on the projector and into a CSV file.

Step by step

How it works

  1. Pick a set of areas

Areas of life or areas of teamwork - or nine of your own.

  2. Run a session

Share a code or a QR code; participants join from their phones.

  3. Dots and two picks

In two minutes everyone sticks their dots and picks what to talk about.

  4. Round and debrief

Pass the floor one by one, then discuss the group map together.

Use cases

  • Kicking off a new team: get to know each other faster
  • A team health check before a retrospective
  • A team meeting after a reorganisation or a change of leader
  • Group coaching or mentoring sessions
  • The same check a few months later: what has changed
